Drain lining & no-dig repairs

Repair damaged drains without the disruption of digging them up.

DrainAid provides professional drain lining and no-dig repair solutions for homes and businesses across Sussex, Surrey and the surrounding areas.

Where the existing pipework is suitable, drain lining can repair damaged sections from inside the drain, creating a strong new lining within the existing pipe without the need for extensive excavation.

We’ll assess the condition of your drains first and advise whether a no-dig repair is the right solution for the problem.

Dealing with damaged or deteriorating drains?

Cracks, damaged joints and other defects in underground pipework can lead to recurring blockages, leaks and further deterioration if the underlying problem isn't addressed.

In many cases, repairing the damaged drain doesn't mean the entire pipe needs to be replaced. Drain lining and other no-dig repair methods can provide a way to repair suitable pipework from within, helping restore the drainage system while minimising disruption to the surrounding property.

We'll assess the damage first and advise whether a no-dig repair is suitable or whether another type of drain repair would be more appropriate.

Signs your drain may need lining or repair

Problems with pipework aren't always visible from above ground. It may be worth investigating your drains if you notice:

  • Recurring blockages, particularly if the same drain keeps causing problems

  • Slow or poor drainage that returns after the drain has been cleared

  • Persistent unpleasant smells around drains or pipework

  • Leaks or unexplained damp areas that could indicate damaged pipework

  • Root intrusion or other defects identified within the drain

  • Cracks, damaged joints or deterioration identified during a CCTV drain survey

These signs don't necessarily mean drain lining is the right solution. We'll assess the condition of the pipework first and recommend the most appropriate repair for the damage we find.

How drain lining works

Before carrying out a repair, we'll assess the condition of the drain to understand the type and extent of the damage and make sure the pipework is suitable for lining.

Where appropriate, a specialist liner is inserted into the existing drain and positioned within the damaged section. The liner is then set in place, creating a new surface within the existing pipe and repairing the affected area without the need for extensive excavation.

Depending on the problem, a no-dig repair may be used to address a specific damaged section or a longer length of pipework.

Once the repair is complete, the drainage system can be checked to make sure the liner is correctly positioned and the drain is working as it should.

What’s the difference between drain lining and a no-dig repair?

No-dig repair is a broad term for repairing damaged drainage without excavating the pipework. Drain lining is one of the methods that can be used.

Drain lining is typically used to repair a longer section of damaged or deteriorating pipework by installing a new lining within the existing drain.

A targeted no-dig or patch repair can be used where the damage is confined to a smaller area, such as an isolated crack or damaged joint, without treating a longer section of otherwise sound pipework.

The right approach depends on what the CCTV inspection shows. We’ll assess the location and extent of the damage and recommend the repair that's appropriate for the condition of your drain.

If the pipework is too severely damaged or collapsed for a no-dig repair, excavation and replacement may be necessary.
